Saskatchewan Roughriders rule out Rolan Milligan Jr., Tevaughn Campbell against Argonauts

The Saskatchewan Roughriders will be without defensive backs Rolan Milligan Jr. and Tevaughn Campbell when they host the Toronto Argonauts on Friday night.

Milligan Jr. didn’t practice all week due to a foot/knee injury he suffered in last week’s win over the Ottawa Redblacks, while Campbell was limited in practice all week due to a head injury. The latter will miss his fourth-straight game dating back to the middle of September.

Milligan Jr., who was named the league’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player last year, has recorded 52 defensive tackles, one special teams tackle, four interceptions, and one touchdown over 15 starts at boundary halfback this season. He has yet to miss a regular-season game this year.

Defensive back Marcus Sayles was listed as available on the team’s official injury report despite not practicing all week due to a knee injury. The reigning All-CFL defender has made 47 defensive tackles, one special teams tackle, and two interceptions over 13 starts at boundary cornerback.

Other players who have been ruled out for Saskatchewan are quarterback Tommy Stevens (knee), defensive lineman Shane Ray (shoulder), linebacker Melique Straker (illness), and defensive backs Jaxon Ford (knee) and Nelson Lokombo (ankle).

Veteran kicker Brett Lauther, who missed last game due to a back injury, is listed as questionable. Head coach Corey Mace told the media on Tuesday that dressing newly-signed kicker Michael Hughes, who is American, is an option, though it will require the team to rest an American player elsewhere on the roster.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders (11-4) will host the Toronto Argonauts (5-11) at Mosaic Stadium in Regina on Friday, October 10 with kickoff slated for 9:00 p.m. EDT. The Roughriders are coming off a modest win over the Ottawa Redblacks, while the Argonauts were crushed by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The weather forecast in Regina calls for a high of 19 degrees with sunny conditions. The game will be broadcast on TSN and RDS2 in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on TSN 1050 in Toronto and 620 CKRM in Regina.
