The Saskatchewan Roughriders have released American offensive lineman Nick Jones.

The native of Byhalia, Miss. was released at the end of training camp as part of the team’s final roster cuts. He was brought back on Saskatchewan’s practice roster during the summertime but didn’t see any regular-season action.

The 24-year-old blocker has spent six games for the Riders as a rookie in 2024, contributing to an offensive line unit that allowed just 35 sacks.

The six-foot-three, 300-pound blocker played 32 collegiate games over three seasons at Mississippi State, making 25 starts at left guard and left tackle. He allowed three sacks over 657 snaps as a senior, helping the offence generate 1,761 yards along the ground and 2,182 yards through the air.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders (10-3) will visit the Edmonton Elks (5-9) on Saturday, September 27 with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. EDT. The Roughriders were on a bye this past week, while the Elks suffered a heartbreaking walk-off loss to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The weather forecast in Edmonton calls for a high of 18 degrees with a mix of sun and cloud. The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on 620 CKRM in Regina and 880 CHED in Edmonton.
