Montreal Alouettes release seven, including former NFL DB Quenton Meeks

The Montreal Alouettes have released seven players, including former NFL defensive back Quenton Meeks.

The six-foot-one, 209-pound native of San Diego, Calif. played 17 regular-season NFL games over three seasons as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Chargers, Tennessee Titans, and New Orleans Saints, recording 10 total tackles and two pass knockdowns.

The 27-year-old also played for the Memphis Showboats of the UFL. Collegiately, he played at Stanford University where he recorded 115 tackles, seven interceptions, and two touchdowns.

The other players released by the Alouettes include American receiver Daniel Arias, American defensive linemen Praise Amaewhule and Treqwan Thomas, Canadian defensive lineman Ifenna Onyeka, American defensive back Matt Severance, and Global punter Sam Clark.

CFL teams were required to reduce their rosters to 75 players plus non-counters on Tuesday, May 13 by 11:59 p.m. EDT.

The Alouettes will open their preseason on Saturday, May 24 against the Ottawa Redblacks.

Montreal also made addition, signing American receiver Phil Lutz Jr.

The six-foot, 200-pound native of North Caldwell, N.J. caught 59 passes for 1,071 yards and 12 touchdowns over two seasons at the University of Delaware.
