Washington Commanders release Canadian OL Anim Dankwah

The Washington Commanders have released Canadian offensive lineman Anim Dankwah.

The native of Brampton, Ont. spent a portion of the 2024 season on Washington’s practice roster and was signed back on a futures contract in January. He initially signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent but was released as part of final roster cuts at the end of training camp.

The six-foot-eight, 353-pound blocker played five collegiate seasons at Howard University in Washington, D.C. where he appeared in 39 games and started at left tackle for three years. He allowed a career-low 11 pressures and two sacks over 11 games as a senior. He was named first-team All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in 2023 and second-team All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in 2022.

Dankwah was the largest offensive lineman in attendance at the NFL Combine in 2024. He posted a 27.5-inch vertical jump and put up 24 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. At his pro day, he ran a 5.44-second forty-yard dash, 5.21-second three-cone, and 8.46-second three-cone drill.

The Toronto Argonauts hold Dankwah’s exclusive CFL rights as they selected him in the sixth round of the 2024 CFL Draft.
