Canadian OL Anim Dankwah signs futures contract with Washington Commanders

Canadian offensive lineman Anim Dankwah has signed a reserve futures contract with the Washington Commanders for the 2025 season.

The native of Brampton, Ont. went unselected in the 2024 NFL Draft and signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent, but was released as part of final roster cuts. He was signed to the Commanders’ practice roster two weeks later but released on October 30.

Dankwah spent five collegiate seasons at Howard University in Washington, D.C., appearing in 39 games and establishing himself as a three-year starter at left tackle. He allowed a career-low 11 pressures and two sacks over 11 games at left tackle as a senior in 2022. He was named first-team All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, building off a second-team selection in 2022.

The six-foot-eight, 353-pound blocker was the largest offensive lineman in attendance at the NFL Combine. He posted a 27.5-inch vertical jump and put up 24 reps on the bench at the event and ran a 5.44-second forty-yard dash, 5.21-second three-cone, and 8.46-second three-cone drill at his pro day.

Dankwah’s CFL rights belong to the Toronto Argonauts, who selected him in the sixth round of the 2024 CFL Draft. He is not eligible to compete in the NFL playoffs.
