B.C. Lions bring back college lacrosse star, national championship QB Jared Bernhardt as receiver

The B.C. Lions have re-signed American receiver Jared Bernhardt after he finished the 2024 season on the practice roster.

The 27-year-old joined the Lions in September but did not suit up for a game in his first season. He previously spent training camp with the Atlanta Falcons in 2023 and initially made the team’s active roster after being converted to receiver but was eventually moved to injured reserve.

Bernhardt played lacrosse at the University of Maryland, finishing his tenure as the program’s all-time leader in points (290), goals (202), and single-season goals (71). He helped the program win a National Championship in 2017, setting new records for most goals (18) and points (74) in a single NCAA Tournament.

The six-foot-one, 195-pound native of Longwood, Fla. transferred to Ferris State, a Division II program located in Big Rapids, Mich., in 2021 to play quarterback. He led the team to a 14-0 record and a National Championship that season, throwing for 1,322 yards and 11 touchdowns while rushing for 1,421 yards and 26 touchdowns touchdowns with the Bulldogs. He was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year for his performance.
