Toronto Argonauts’ QB Chad Kelly named CFL’s top performer for Week 19 by PFF

Toronto Argonauts’ quarterback Chad Kelly has been named the CFL’s top performer for Week 19 by Pro Football Focus (PFF) with a grade of 90.4.

The league’s reigning Most Outstanding Player completed 16-of-23 pass attempts for 203 yards and one touchdown to help his team upset the Winnipeg Blue Bombers by a score of 14-11. He also rushed nine times for 33 yards.

Kelly now has thrown for 2,120 yards, seven touchdowns, and eight interceptions on the season since returning from suspension, going 4-3 as a starter.

The highest-graded defensive player of the week was Toronto linebacker Wynton McManis, who made eight defensive tackles, one pass knockdown, and one fumble recovery against Winnipeg. The 30-year-old native of Memphis, Tenn. has recorded 53 defensive tackles, two special teams tackles, one sack, and one interception over 10 games this year.

The highest-graded offensive line of the week belonged to the Montreal Alouettes with a group grade of 73.3. Left tackle Nick Callender earned the highest individual score at 73.5 followed by right tackle Josh Donovan (71.2) and centre Justin Lawrence (68.7).

The CFL partnered with PFF for the first time ahead of the 2023 season. The company uses game footage to review every player on the field and grades their individual performances on a scale from zero to 100.

The league unveils the top-graded players from PFF each week. Offensive and defensive players must play a minimum of 25 snaps to be eligible and special teams players must play at least 10. Ties are broken by the number of snaps played.
