It appears the Ottawa Redblacks will have quarterback Dru Brown back in the lineup this week when they visit the Toronto Argonauts.
According to TSN 1200’s AJ Jakubec, the 27-year-old native of Palo Alto, Calif. took first-team reps to start the practice week on Wednesday. He missed the team’s two most recent games due to an ankle injury.
Jeremiah Masoli started in place of Brown and struggled, throwing for 494 yards, one touchdown, and four interceptions in losses to Saskatchewan and Montreal. The Redblacks are 1-5 in their last six games and have fallen out of second place in the East Division.
Ottawa needs to beat the Argonauts this week to have any chance of hosting this year’s East Semi-Final. With a win this week, the Redblacks could clinch second place with a victory over Hamilton on Oct. 25 or a Toronto loss to Edmonton later that same day.
Brown has thrown for 3,114 yards, 11 touchdowns, and eight interceptions this season, posting a 7-5-1 record as a starter.
The Redblacks (8-7-1) will visit the Argonauts (9-7) on Saturday, Oct. 19 with kickoff slated for 3:00 p.m. EDT.
