The B.C. Lions have acquired Canadian running back Jeshrun Antwi from the Montreal Alouettes in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2025 CFL Draft mere hours ahead of the CFL’s trade deadline.
“Jeshrun is a proven player in this league who will come in and complement the solid backfield we’ve established this season,” said B.C. co-general manager and director of football operations Neil McEvoy in a statement. “We feel we are in a decent position to add a veteran to our group for the push to the playoffs.”
The 26-year-old was originally a sixth-round pick in the 2019 CFL Draft out of the University of Calgary. He played 61 regular season games with the Alouettes, recording 191 carries for 1,021 yards and one touchdown, 52 receptions for 342 yards, and 25 special teams tackles. He is currently tied for Montreal’s team lead with 11 special teams tackles.
The native of Israel, who moved from Ghana to Calgary at age 12, rushed for 2,233 yards and 18 touchdowns and caught 55 passes for 455 yards and five scores in U Sports.
The B.C. Lions (7-8) will host the Calgary Stampeders (4-9-1) on Friday, Oct. 4 with kickoff slated for 10:00 p.m. EDT.
