Riders’ receiver Samuel Emilus, five others fined for acts in Week 16

The CFL has handed out supplemental discipline to six players following Week 16, including Saskatchewan Roughriders’ receiver Samuel Emilus.

The 26-year-old native of Montreal, Que. was fined for delivering a blindside block against Stampeders’ cornerback Demerio Houston. He caught just one pass for 22 yards in Saskatchewan’s victory, bringing his season total to 70 receptions for 781 yards and four touchdowns.

Also fined were two members of the Toronto Argonauts. Defensive end Derek Parish was reprimanded for a low hit on Hamilton quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell, while defensive back Robert Priester was punished for a high hit on tight end Jevoni Robinson.

Three members of the Ottawa Redblacks were issued punishments, including defensive back Adrian Frye for a high hit on Montreal returner James Letcher Jr. and linebacker James Peter for an illegal block on fullback Alexandre Gagne. Defensive back Damon Webb was fined for violating the CFL Code of Conduct by forcefully removing the helmet of Alouettes’ running back Jeshrun Antwi and throwing it.

As per CFL policy, the amounts of the fines were not disclosed. Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, the maximum financial punishment allowable is equal to half a game cheque.
