Just four days after returning from the NFL, Canadian defensive lineman Lwal Uguak will be on the field for the Montreal Alouettes when they play the Ottawa Redblacks on Saturday.

Uguak was a first-round pick of the Alouettes in the 2023 CFL Draft and made 17 tackles and four sacks during the regular season. He also recorded five tackles in the East Semi-Final, one tackle in the East Final, and five tackles in the 110th Grey Cup, helping Montreal upset the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to end its 12-year championship drought.

The six-foot-four, 261-pound edge rusher was waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with an injury designation late last month. He recorded two solo tackles, one sack, and one pass knockdown over three NFL preseason games.

Rookie Canadian defensive lineman Philippe Lemieux-Cardinal was demoted to the practice roster to make room for Uguak. The Alouettes also swapped their defensive back depth, with Lorenzo Burns drawing into the lineup and Titus Wall going onto PR.

Despite practicing fully on Wednesday, All-CFL safety Marc-Antoine Dequoy will miss a second consecutive game with a head injury. Rookie Arthur Hamlin will continue to start in his place.

The Montreal Alouettes (10-2-1) will visit the Ottawa Redblacks (8-4-1) on Saturday, September 21 at 3:00 p.m. EDT.
