The Montreal Alouettes have released American linebacker Bryce Notree and Canadian defensive lineman Anthony Federico.
Notree played 14 games over two seasons with the Alouettes, making 21 defensive tackles, 12 special teams tackles, and one sack. He made two starts last season but was a healthy scratch during the playoffs when Montreal went on a surprise Grey Cup run. The native of Arlington, Texas was recently demoted to the team’s practice roster.
The six-foot-three, 225-pound defender was named second-team All-Conference during his final collegiate season at Southern Illinois University. He had a brief stint with the Washington Commanders before signing his first CFL contract.
Federico signed with the Alouettes in July after being released by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats during training camp. He dressed for two regular season games but didn’t register any statistics.
The six-foot-three, 235-pound native of Niagara Falls, Ont. dressed for 23 games over two seasons with the Tiger-Cats, recording 10 special teams tackles. He was a second-round pick in the 2022 CFL Draft out of Queen’s University where he made 87 total tackles, 34.5 tackles for loss, 20.5 sacks, and one pass knockdown with the Gaels.
The Alouettes (10-2-1) will visit the Ottawa Redblacks (8-4-1) on Saturday, Sept. 21 with kickoff slated for 3:00 p.m. EDT.
