Calgary Stampeders sign Canadian LB Dan Basambombo

The Calgary Stampeders have signed Canadian linebacker Dan Basambombo to the practice roster.

The six-foot, 225-pound defender was taken by the Ottawa Redblacks with their territorial selection in the second round of the 2020 CFL Draft by the Ottawa Redblacks. He played 23 games over two seasons with the team, making six special teams tackles.

The 27-year-old played 14 collegiate games at Université Laval where he made 42 tackles, four tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. He was named a Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) all-star in 2018.

Basambombo was born in Congo before moving to Ottawa at the age of nine.

The Calgary Stampeders (4-8) will host the Montreal Alouettes (10-2) on Saturday, Sept. 14 with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. EDT.
