Saskatchewan Roughriders running back A.J. Ouellette has been ruled out for Thursday’s Week 12 matchup against the Toronto Argonauts.
It would have been the two-time East Division all-star’s return to BMO Field after leaving the Argos this off-season, but a hip injury will prevent that from happening. The 27-year-old returned from a three-game absence due to the same injury last week against the Montreal Alouettes.
In the seven games the Covington, Oh. native has played in 2024 he’s carried the ball 114 times for 474 yards with three touchdowns, averaging 4.2 yards per carry. Ouellette has made 14 catches out of the backfield for 140 yards.
Presumably taking his place will be American running back Frankie Hickson who started in the three games Ouellette missed earlier in the season. The 27-year-old has 41 carries for 235 yards with one touchdown while he has averaged 5.7 yards per carry during four games this season.
Canadian receiver Mitch Picton (ankle) and defensive back Amari Henderson (shoulder) have also been ruled out, while Kian Schaffer-Baker is listed as questionable.
The Riders (5-4-1) visit the Toronto Argonauts (5-4) with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m. EDT on Thursday, August 22.
