Edmonton Elks sign Canadian OL Jakub Szott, one other

The Edmonton Elks have signed Canadian offensive lineman Jakub Szott and American receiver D’Marcus Adams to the practice roster.

Szott was selected in the fourth round of the 2020 CFL Draft and has since been a member of the Ottawa Redblacks, Montreal Alouettes, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He has dressed for 24 games with 14 starts.

The 26-year-old played four collegiate seasons at McMaster University, dressing for 37 games with the Marauders.

Adams spent the past two seasons at Syracuse University, making seven catches for 186 yards and two touchdowns, 16 punt returns for 119 yards, and six kickoff returns for 93 yards. He previously spent two years at Florida Atlantic University, dressing for 10 games. He attended rookie minicamp with the Buffalo Bills earlier this year.

The Elks have also released offensive lineman Jaxon Morkin from the practice roster as weel as fullback Brad Hladik and offensive lineman Patrick Lavoie from the suspended list. All three Canadian players are expected to return to school for the U Sports season.

The Edmonton Elks (2-7) will visit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2-7) on Saturday, Aug. 17 with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. EDT.
