The Calgary Stampeders have released starting defensive back Rodney Randle Jr.
The 27-year-old native of Beaumont, Texas signed with the Stampeders late last year after participating in training camp with the New England Patriots. He made 18 defensive tackles and two special teams tackles over seven games with Calgary this season, making five starts at field-side halfback.
The six-foot, 197-pound defender split the 2022 season between the Montreal Alouettes and Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Over 29 career CFL games, he has recorded 76 defensive tackles, 13 special teams tackles, and four interceptions.
The Stampeders have also released American linebacker Diego Fagot, who was on the practice roster.
The six-foot-three, 240-pound defender went unselected in the 2022 NFL Draft before stints with the Baltimore Ravens, Houston Roughnecks (XFL), and New England Patriots. He was in training camp with the Saskatchewan Roughriders earlier this year but was released as part of final roster cuts.
The Calgary Stampeders (3-4) will host the Toronto Argonauts (4-3) on Sunday, Aug. 4 with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. EDT.
