RB A.J. Ouellette out for Saskatchewan Roughriders against Alouettes

Veteran running back A.J. Ouellette will be out for the Saskatchewan Roughriders this week due to a hip injury, according to the team’s injury report.

The five-foot-nine, 210-pound ball-carrier has recorded 96 rushes for 389 yards and three touchdowns through six games this season, helping the Riders off to a hot start. He has also caught 11 passes for 106 yards.

The 29-year-old native of Covington, Ohio signed a two-year contract with the Riders in free agency worth a minimum of $160,500 per season, making him the league’s second-highest-paid running back. He was a two-time East Division all-star with the Toronto Argonauts and helped the team win a Grey Cup in 2022.

Kian Schaffer-Baker has also been ruled out for this week’s game due to a shoulder injury, while Canadian receiver Dhel Duncan-Busby and Canadian offensive lineman Noah Zerr are both available after completing stints on the six-game injured list.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders (5-1) will visit the Montreal Alouettes (5-1) on Thursday, July 25 with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m. EDT.
