Arizona Cardinals waive Canadian OL Carter O’Donnell with injury designation

Published on

The Arizona Cardinals have waived Canadian offensive lineman Carter O’Donnell with an injury designation.

The native of Red Deer, Alta. dressed for five games with the team last season, making three starts at guard. He joined the Cardinals ahead of Week 1 in 2023 when he was claimed off waivers from the Indianapolis Colts.

The six-foot-five, 305-pound blocker signed with the Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2020 and spent two seasons on the practice roster. He missed the entire 2022 season on injured reserve with a Lisfranc injury.

O’Donnell was named a first-team All-Canadian as a member of the University of Alberta in 2019 and earned an invitation to the prestigious East-West Shrine Game. He was a third-round pick of the Montreal Alouettes in the 2020 CFL Draft, though his rights have since been traded to the Edmonton Elks.

The Cardinals finished last in the NFC West last season with a record of 4-13.
