The Edmonton Elks have signed Canadian long snapper Simon Chaves to the practice roster.

The five-foot-eleven, 215-pound native of Guelph, Ont. attended training camp with the Ottawa Redblacks earlier this year but was released as part of final cuts. He also previously attended training camp with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers after going unselected in the 2022 CFL Draft.

The 26-year-old was a two-sport athlete at the collegiate level as a football player and wrestler at the University of Guelph.
