The Calgary Stampeders have signed Canadian defensive lineman Justin Sambu.
The six-foot-four, 280-pound native of Calgary, Alta. was a sixth-round pick of the Toronto Argonauts in the 2024 CFL Draft. He participated in training camp with the team but was released before the start of the regular season.
The 25-year-old finished his collegiate career at Baylor University, recording two defensive tackles over 12 games. He spent most of his college years at the University of Maine where he played 28 games for the Black Bears, making 59 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.

Sambu played at Cochrane High School, which is located slightly northwest of Calgary, and represented the school as a member of the South all-stars at the 2016 Senior Bowl. He also played three games for the Calgary Colts juniors before transferring to the Football North program in Mississauga, Ont. ahead of college.
The Calgary Stampeders (2-3) will host the B.C. Lions (5-1) on Sunday, July 21 with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. EDT.
