Montreal Alouettes’ QB Cody Fajardo exits loss to Argos, does not return

Montreal Alouettes’ franchise quarterback Cody Fajardo exited Thursday’s game against the Toronto Argonauts and did not return.

The injury took place at the end of the first quarter and appeared to affect Fajardo’s right hamstring. He left for the locker room under his own power.

The native of Brea, Calif. went five-for-six for 62 yards and carried the ball once for five yards before leaving the game. He was replaced by Caleb Evans, who threw for 127 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Fajardo threw for 1,574 yards, 10 touchdowns, and four interceptions over Montreal’s first five games, helping lead the team to an undefeated start to the season. He also ran the ball 23 times for 137 yards and one score.

In his first season in Montreal, the 32-year-old QB threw for 3,847 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions and was named Grey Cup MVP after helping the Alouettes secure their eighth-ever title.

The Argonauts (3-2) defeated the Alouettes (5-1) by a score of 37-18 at Percival Molson Stadium, handing them their first loss of the season. The team provided no update on Fajardo following the game.
