The Ottawa Redblacks have signed former Calgary Stampeders’ running back LeVante Bellamy.
The five-foot-nine, 189-pound native of Indianapolis, Ind. dressed for seven games in Cowtown last year, recording 23 carries for 70 yards. He also caught five passes for 22 yards and returned four kickoffs for 95 yards.
Bellamy signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted NFL free agent in 2020 and spent two years with the team, rushing four times for 11 yards, catching one pass for five yards, and making two tackles.
The team has also released American defensive back Tarvarus McFadden.
The 27-year-old was released by the Toronto Argonauts after training camp. He played 33 games with the team and made 65 defensive tackles, five special teams tackles, four interceptions, and two forced fumbles.
McFadden played three collegiate seasons at Florida State University, recording 53 tackles, three sacks, and eight interceptions in 28 games. McFadden was an All-American in 2016, a finalist for the NCAA’s top defensive player award, and won the Jack Tatum Trophy as the nation’s top defensive back.
The Ottawa Redblacks (2-2) will visit the Edmonton Elks (0-4) on Sunday, July 14 at Commonwealth Stadium with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. EDT.
