B.C. Lions’ quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. has been named the CFL’s top performer for Week 5 by Pro Football Focus (PFF) with a grade of 93.6.
The 31-year-old passer completed 26-of-36 pass attempts for 383 yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions in a 44-28 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He also rushed three times for 15 yards. This is his third honour roll selection of the 2024 season.
Adams Jr. is off to a torrid start to the season, throwing for 1,752 yards, 11 touchdowns, and one interception to help lead the Lions to a 4-1 start. He is on pace to shatter his previous career-highs in each passing category.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats defensive lineman Casey Sayles was the highest-graded defensive player of the week, earning a score of 86.7. The Ohio University product played 55 defensive snaps against the Lions and made two defensive tackles and one sack. This is his second honour roll selection of the year.
The Montreal Alouettes had the highest-graded offensive line of the week, earning a group grade of 73.1. Left tackle Nick Callender had the highest individual grade at 75.5, followed by centre Justin Lawrence (70.3) and left guard Pier-Olivier Lestage (67.1).
The CFL partnered with PFF for the first time ahead of the 2023 season. The American company uses game footage to review every player on the field and grades their individual performances on a scale from zero to 100.
The league unveils the top-graded players from PFF each week. Offensive and defensive players must play a minimum of 25 snaps to be eligible and special teams players must play at least 10. Ties are broken by the number of snaps played.
