The Toronto Argonauts have moved veteran strong-side linebacker Quincy Mauger to the six-game injured list.

The 29-year-old started the first three games of the season for the team, recording eight defensive tackles and two special teams tackles. The three-year veteran signed with the Toronto this past off-season following a two-year run with the B.C. Lions during which he made 65 defensive tackles, 10 special teams tackles, four sacks, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles.

Mauger will be replaced by Robert Priester, who was signed by Toronto this past week. The five-foot-nine, 180-pound defender helped the Argonauts win a Grey Cup in 2022 and played five games with the club in 2023, recording three defensive tackles.

Jonathan Edouard, who was the CFL’s highest-graded player last week according to Pro Football Focus, will make his first career start at field-side cornerback, while Benjie Franklin will replace Leonard Johnson at boundary cornerback. Fraser Sopik has also been listed as a starter at weak-side linebacker over Jonathan Jones.

The Riders have made several changes to their roster ahead of Thursday’s matchup with Trevor Harris, Shawn Bane Jr., and Adam Auclair all sitting out this week. Shea Patterson, who has previously been a member of the B.C. Lions and Montreal Alouettes, will make his first career CFL start at quarterback.

The Toronto Argonauts (2-1) will visit the Saskatchewan Roughriders (3-0) on Thursday, July 4 with kickoff slated for 9:00 p.m. EDT.
