Zach Collaros misses practice with Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Zach Collaros missed practice with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Tuesday due to a thorax injury, according to the team’s report.

The 35-year-old passer was injured during his team’s recent matchup with the Calgary Stampeders, sitting out the entire second half. He completed eight-of-twelve pass attempts for 55 yards and one interception in the 22-19 overtime loss.

When speaking to reporters on Tuesday, head coach Mike O’Shea was predictably coy regarding the status of his starting quarterback.

“We’ll see tomorrow, maybe. Maybe by the end of the day tomorrow. Maybe by the end of day four,” said he. “I don’t know.”

O’Shea indicated immediately after last week’s game that the decision to sit Collaros for the second half was precautionary.

The two-time CFL M.O.P. is off to a slow start to the season, completing 62.3 percent of his passes for 796 yards and four interceptions. Injuries to the team’s receiving corps have undoubtedly played a role in the quarterback’s struggles as Kenny Lawler and Dalton Schoen are both on the six-game injured list.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers (0-4) will host the Ottawa Redblacks (2-1) on Friday, July 5 with kickoff slated for 8:30 p.m. EDT.
