Redblacks lose veteran DB Money Hunter to six-game injured list

The Ottawa Redblacks will be short one of their top defensive backs when they face off against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Sunday.

Veteran cornerback Money Hunter (shoulder) has been added to the six-game injured list. The 28-year-old missed the majority of the 2023 season after suffering a torn pectoral muscle during a training camp scrimmage, playing in just the final four games and recording 11 tackles. He has posted 10 tackles through the first two games of 2024.

In 62 CFL games, the Arkansas State product has registered 188 defensive tackles, 12 special teams tackles, two sacks, and 10 interceptions.

Deandre Lamont will move over to boundary cornerback and fellow veteran Sherrod Baltimore will draw into the lineup to start on the field side. The 31-year-old has played 71 career CFL games as a member of the Redblacks since 2017, making 154 total tackles, four interceptions, and one forced fumble.

Also absent this week will be backup Canadian safety Ty Cranston (ankle), who will spend the week on the one-game injured list. Field halfback Tobias Harris has been listed as a game-time decision with an undisclosed injury.

Canadian receiver Keaton Bruggeling will draw into the lineup in a depth role. Defensive end Deshawn Stevens (calf) remains out, while linebacker Silas Stewart, receiver Kalil Pimpleton, and offensive tackle Dontae Bull are all healthy scratches.

The Ottawa Redblacks (1-1) will host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (0-3) on Sunday, June 30 with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. EDT.
