The Ottawa Redblacks will welcome quarterback Tyrie Adams back into the lineup when they visit the Montreal Alouettes on Thursday night.

The 27-year-old native of St. Petersburg, Fla. led the Redblacks to a 26-7 win over the Edmonton Elks last season but suffered a torn ACL in the effort. He has thrown for 412 yards, one touchdown, and one interception over nine career CFL games and carried the ball 11 times for 81 yards.

Adams will dress as the team’s third-string quarterback behind Dru Brown and Dustin Crum. Jake Dunniway, who dressed as the third-stringer last week, was cut following last week’s win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The Redblacks have also added a few other veterans to the lineup with Justin Howell returning from a calf injury to serve as the backup safety behind Alonzo Addae. Offensive lineman Jacob Ruby and linebacker Davion Taylor, both of whom were healthy scratches last week, will also dress.

Former second-round pick James Peter has been moved to the practice roster, while Dontae Bull, the first overall pick in the 2023 CFL Draft, has been moved to the one-game injured list as a healthy scratch. Bull started for the Redblacks at right tackle last week but was replaced partway through by Zack Pelehos, who remains the starter this week.

Among those still on Ottawa’s six-game injured list include quarterback Jeremiah Masoli, defensive lineman Kene Onyeka, and defensive back Brandin Dandridge.

The Ottawa Redblacks (1-0) will visit the Montreal Alouettes (2-0) on Thursday, June 20 with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m. EDT.
