The Edmonton Elks have released American running back Justin Rankin and placed Canadian offensive lineman Patrick Lavoie on the suspended list.

Rankin won an Indoor Football League championship with the Bay Area Panthers in 2023, rushing for 923 yards with 45 touchdowns. The five-foot-10, 215-pound back previously spent time with the Frisco Fighters in 2022 and the Bismarck Bucks in 2021 after wrapping up his college career at Northwest Missouri State in 2019, where he ran for 1,050 yards and 13 touchdowns in 14 games.

Lavoie was the Elks’ seventh-round pick in the 2024 CFL Draft. The six-foot-four lineman started seven games for the Carleton Ravens in 2023 and attended the U Sports East-West Bowl in Hamilton.
