Calgary Stampeders sign first-round CFL draft pick Ben Labrosse

The Calgary Stampeders have signed Canadian defensive back Ben Labrosse.

The six-foot, 189-pound native of Greenfield Park, Que. was the fourth overall pick in the 2024 CFL Draft out of McGill University. He made 35 tackles, three interceptions, and one pass knockdown with the Redbirds in 2022 and was named an RSEQ all-star and first-team U Sports All-Canadian. He didn’t play in 2023 due to being academically ineligibile.

The 24-year-old started his collegiate career at Syracuse University where he made 14 tackles and one tackle for loss over 10 regular season games before leaving the team.

Labrosse recently participated in rookie minicamp with the New York Giants, though he wasn’t offered a contract following its conclusion. He was one of the top performers at this year’s CFL Combine in Winnipeg, running a 4.51-second forty-yard dash and leaping 38.5 inches in the vertical jump.

The Stampeders have also released American linebacker Tre Walker.
