Stampeders sign Fresno State receiver Erik Brooks, one other

The Calgary Stampeders have added a pair of receivers to their training camp roster, signing American Erik Brooks and Canadian Maxim Malenfant.

Brooks spent six seasons at Fresno State University, earning honourable mention All-Mountain West honours as a senior in 2023. Over 52 career games, the five-foot-seven, 170-pound speedster caught 128 passes for 1,548 yards and 10 touchdowns, while also returning 20 punts for 172 yards and one kickoff for 35 yards.

Malenfant went unselected in the 2024 CFL Draft out of the University of Ottawa, where he recorded 37 career receptions for 404 yards and three touchdowns in 26 career games. The five-foot-eight, 200-pound target also logged nine special teams tackles, 111 kickoff-return yards, 82 punt-return yards and 18 rushing yards during his time with the Gee-Gees and was twice named a U Sports academic All-Canadian.

The Stampeders are scheduled to begin rookie camp on Wednesday, May 8, before opening the 2024 regular season on Friday, June 7 when they host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at McMahon Stadium.
