Legendary NFL RB Marshawn Lynch spotted at Winnipeg Jets game supporting Seattle Kraken

Retired NFL running back Marshawn Lynch attended Tuesday night’s NHL game between the Seattle Kraken and Winnipeg Jets, sitting in the lower bowl of the Canada Life Centre.

The 37-year-old played seven seasons with the Seattle Seahawks where he became a fan favourite, helping the club win Super Bowl XLVIII. The native of Oakland, Calif. joined the Kraken’s ownership group near the end of the team’s inaugural season in April 2022.

The five-foot-eleven, 215-pound ball carrier played 13 seasons in the NFL as a member of the Buffalo Bills, Seahawks, and Raiders, rushing for 10,413 yards and 85 touchdowns. He made five Pro Bowls, led the league in rushing touchdowns twice, led the league in rushing yards once, and earned one first-team All-Pro selection.

Lynch went viral during media day at Super Bowl XLIX when he repeatedly answered questions with the phrase: “I’m just here so I won’t get fined.” He also has several film and television credits, including The League, Brooklyn Nine Nine, and Bar Rescue.

This isn’t the first time Lynch has been to Canada as he visited the Toronto Argonauts during training camp in May 2022. Corey Mace, who was then the team’s defensive coordinator, played alongside Lynch with the Bills from 2007 to 2009 and the two have remained friends ever since.

With Mace being hired as the head coach of the Saskatchewan Roughriders earlier this off-season, it seems possible to think Lynch could soon be heading for a visit to Riderville.
