The Edmonton Elks have signed American defensive end Azur Kamara to their training camp roster.

The 25-year-old spent parts of three seasons in the NFL after signing with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2020. After spending his rookie year on injured reserve, he became one of the featured players on the popular HBO docuseries Hard Knocks during his second training camp. The shoe focused on his relationship with his mother and his story as a refugee from the Ivory Coast as he battled to make the roster on special teams.

Kamara succeeded in cracking the Cowboys’ lineup that season, suiting up in nine games and recording three tackles. He was waived in December 2021, later spending time with the Carolina Panthers and Kansas City Chiefs without seeing game action.
