The Ottawa Redblacks have released American receiver Floyd Allen, who was signed earlier this off-season following a stint with the Calgary Stampeders.
The 27-year-old made three starts for the Stamps in 2023, recording four catches for 44 yards and one touchdown. He finished the season on the team’s practice roster and became a free agent after the club lost the West Semi-Final to the B.C. Lions.
The native of Houston, Texas finished his collegiate career at Ole Miss before signing with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent. He never played a regular season NFL game.
The Redblacks also released three other American players, including receiver Lonnie Moore, defensive lineman Malcolm Lee, and defensive back David Haney.
Moore signed with the Redblacks earlier this off-season following a stint with the Toronto Argonauts during which he didn’t dress for any regular season games. The five-foot-ten, 175-pound target played 48 collegiate games at Monmouth University and recorded 213 receptions for 2,736 yards and 19 touchdowns, 23 carries for 285 yards and three touchdowns, and 79 kickoff returns for 1,839 yards and two touchdowns.
Lee made 78 total tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, four pass knockdowns, one interception, and one forced fumble over 44 career collegiate games at the University of Kansas. The six-foot-five, 255-pound defender signed with Ottawa earlier this off-season.
Haney also signed with the Redblacks earlier this off-season following a run in the Indoor Football League as a member of the Iowa Barnstormers and San Diego Strike Force. The 28-year-old made 35 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 14 pass knockdowns, two interceptions, and one fumble recovery with the Strike Force this past season.
The Redblacks have a bye during the first week of the 2024 regular season before hosting the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Thursday, June 13 at TD Place Stadium.
