The Saskatchewan Roughriders have added American defensive tackle R.J. McIntosh to their training camp roster.

The six-foot-four, 291-pound defender was originally selected 139th overall in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. After missing the first 10 games of his rookie year with a thyroid condition uncovered at the NFL Combine, he would appear in 18 games over three seasons in the Big Apple, recording 18 tackles and two sacks.

After being released by the Giants in August 2021, McIntosh spent time with the New Orleans Saints, Green Bay Packers, Indianapolis Colts, and Miami Dolphins. He never saw game actions during those stops and has been out of football since his contract expired with the Dolphins at the end of the 2022 season.

Prior to his NFL career, the 27-year-old played three seasons at the University of Miami, recording 98 total tackles, 22 tackles for loss, five sacks and nine batted passes in 30 games. He was a second-team All-ACC selection as a junior in 2017, before declaring early for the NFL Draft.

The Riders will open their 2024 regular season on Saturday, June 8 when they visit the Edmonton Elks at Commonwealth Stadium.
