Lights, camera, action: Riders sign former Minnesota Vikings CB Holton ‘Hollywood’ Hill

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed former Minnesota Vikings defensive back Holton ‘Hollywood’ Hill to their training camp roster.

The 26-year-old joined the Vikings as an undrafted free agent following the 2018 NFL Draft. The six-foot-two, 196-pound cornerback played in all 16 games as a rookie and recorded 33 total tackles, one tackle for loss, seven pass breakups and one interception.

Hill was suspended for the first four games of the 2019 season after testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance and later had his punishment extended another four games for a violation of the NFL’s substance abuse policy. He returned to the Vikings through the 2020 season, later spending time with the Indianapolis Colts, Dallas Cowboys and Cincinnati Bengals. 

In 26 career NFL games, including six starts, Hill amassed 73 defensive tackles, one tackle for loss, one interception, one sack and one fumble recovery. 

The Houston native played three collegiate seasons at the University of Texas, tallying 121 tackles, one tackle for loss, 14 pass deflections, one fumble recovery, and one forced fumble. He added three career interceptions and a blocked field goal, all four of which were returned for touchdowns. As a junior in 2017, Hill was suspended for the final three games of the season due to an undisclosed violation of team rules and elected to declare early for the NFL Draft.

The Riders will open their 2024 regular season on Saturday, June 8 when they visit the Edmonton Elks at Commonwealth Stadium.
