The CFL has altered its schedule to allow its last four preseason games to occur on the same day, impacting the Battle of Ontario.

The preseason game between the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Toronto Argonauts originally scheduled for Saturday, June 1 at 1:00 p.m. EDT has been moved to Friday, May 31 at 7:00 p.m. EDT.

As a result of this change, the game between the Montreal Alouettes and Ottawa Redblacks on the same date has been moved from 7:30 p.m. EDT to 7:00 p.m. EDT.

The league indicated that this change was made to create a “Friday night football frenzy” featuring a pair of doubleheaders. The other two matchups that same evening will include the Calgary Stampeders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers at 8:30 p.m. EDT and Edmonton Elks and B.C. Lions at 10:00 p.m. EDT.

It remains unclear how many preseason games will be televised on TSN.

This year’s CFL regular season will begin on Thursday, June 6 when the Montreal Alouettes visit the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for a rematch of the 110th Grey Cup.
