The Ottawa Redblacks have officially signed American linebacker Silas Stewart to a one-year contract, per sources. 3DownNation reported the move on Tuesday.
The six-foot-one, 224-pound defender spent the past three seasons with the Calgary Stampeders, recording 53 defensive tackles, 29 special teams tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble. The 28-year-old dressed for only five games in 2023 due to injury.
Stewart joins quarterback Dru Brown, receiver Dominique Rhymes, offensive linemen Dariusz Bladek and Phillip Norman, and strong-side linebacker Adarius Pickett as off-season additions for Ottawa thus far.
The Redblacks have a bye during the first week of the 2024 regular season before hosting the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Thursday, June 13 at TD Place Stadium.
