Winnipeg Blue Bombers re-sign Canadian LB Shayne Gauthier

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed Canadian linebacker Shayne Gauthier to a one-year contract extension, tying him to the team through 2024. He was set to become a free agent on Tuesday, Feb. 13.

The 31-year-old native of Dolbeau-Mistassini, Que. dressed for six regular season games this past season, recording six defensive tackles and three special teams tackles.

The five-foot-ten, 232-pound defender has been with the team since 2016 when he was a fourth-round pick out of Université Laval. He has made 49 defensive tackles, 57 special teams tackles, two sacks, and one forced fumble over 87 career CFL games, winning two Grey Cups.

The Blue Bombers will open the 2024 regular season by hosting the Grey Cup champion Montreal Alouettes at Princess Auto Stadium on Thursday, June 6.
