Canadian offensive lineman Jacob Ruby has signed back with the Ottawa Redblacks just under two weeks after he was released by the team.
The six-foot-seven, 325-pound blocker was scheduled to receive a $20,000 off-season signing bonus on Feb. 1 as part of a deal that was supposed to pay him $197,500 in hard money in 2024. The financial terms of his new contract with the Redblacks remain unclear.
The native of London, Ont. signed with Ottawa as a free agent in 2022 and appeared in all 18 regular season games to be named a CFL all-star for the first time in his career. He played all 18 regular-season games again for Ottawa in 2023 at right guard.
The 31-year-old has spent eight seasons in the three-down league since he was selected in the first round of the 2015 CFL Draft by the Montreal Alouettes. He has since played 99 career games as a member of the Alouettes, Edmonton Football Team, and Redblacks.
CFL free agency is set to get underway on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at noon EST. The Redblacks have a bye during the first week of the 2024 regular season before hosting the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Thursday, June 13 at TD Place Stadium.
