The Calgary Stampeders have signed American defensive lineman Darius Hodge.
The six-foot-one, 248-pound edge rusher went unselected in the 2021 NFL Draft before stints with the Cincinnati Bengals and Miami Dolphins during which he dressed for four regular season games. He also played two games with the Philadelphia Stars of the USFL in 2023, recording four tackles and 0.5 sacks.
The 25-year-old native of Wake Forest, N.C. played 33 collegiate games over three seasons at Marshall University in Huntington, W.V. He made 116 total tackles, 20.5 tackles for loss, 15.5 sacks, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and two blocked kicks with the Thundering Herd. He earned first-team all-Conference USA honours in 2020.
The Stampeders will open the 2024 regular season on Friday, June 7 when they host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at McMahon Stadium.
