Sources: Saskatchewan Roughriders agree to terms with Canadian LB Adam Auclair

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have agreed to terms with Canadian linebacker Adam Auclair and, barring anything unforeseen, he’s expected to sign with the team, per sources.

The former first-round pick made 119 defensive tackles, 30 special teams tackles, two sacks, one interception, and two forced fumbles over 42 games with the Ottawa Redblacks.

The 27-year-old made seven starts in the final year of his rookie contract and has the skill set to be a ratio-breaker at weak-side linebacker in the right system. He was 3DownNation’s fourth-ranked pending free agent linebacker.

Pending free agents can negotiate with teams across the league during the current window, which closes on Feb. 11. Players can agree to terms on a contract with a particular team for 2024, however, these deals aren’t legally binding and can’t be finalized or made official until after free agency opens on Feb. 13.

The Riders will open their 2024 regular season on Saturday, June 8 when they visit the Edmonton Elks at Commonwealth Stadium.
