The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have agreed to terms with American defensive lineman Dewayne Hendrix and, barring anything unforeseen, he’s expected to sign with the team, per sources.
The 27-year-old consistently improved over three years with the Toronto Argonauts and had a breakout season in 2023, recording 23 tackles, six sacks and one forced fumble. The native of O’Fallon, Ill. can collapse the pocket, proven and was one of the main reasons Toronto led the CFL with 68 sacks this past season.
Pending free agents can negotiate with teams across the league during the current window, which closes on Feb. 11. Players can agree to terms on a contract with a particular team for 2024, however, these deals aren’t legally binding and can’t be finalized or made official until after free agency opens on Feb. 13.
