Calgary Stampeders re-sign DB Kobe Williams

The Calgary Stampeders have re-signed American defensive back Kobe Williams, who was eligible to become a free agent next week.

The five-foot-ten, 180-pound defender made 18 starts this past season, 12 at boundary halfback, five at field-side halfback, and one at field-side cornerback. He made 45 defensive tackles, four tackles for loss, four special teams tackles, one sack, two forced fumbles, two interceptions, and eight knockdowns.

The 25-year-old native of Long Beach, Calif. has been with the Stampeders since 2021 following a stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He has dressed for 30 games with the team, recording 76 tackles, five tackles for loss, four special teams tackles, one sack, two forced fumbles, two interceptions, and 10 knockdowns.

Williams was 3DownNation’s sixth-ranked pending free agent defensive back.

The Stampeders will open the 2024 regular season on Friday, June 7 when they host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at McMahon Stadium.
