The Toronto Argonauts have signed Canadian defensive lineman Benoit Marion and Canadian linebacker Jack Cassar to contract extensions. Both players were set to become free agents next week.
Marion made one defensive tackle, nine special teams tackles, two forced fumbles, and one sack over 16 games with Toronto this past season, serving in a depth role.
The six-foot-five, 250-pound native of Montreal was a third-round pick of the Alouettes in the 2020 CFL Draft but was released before his rookie season got underway. He joined the Argonauts as a free agent shortly thereafter and has made seven defensive tackles, 11 special teams tackles, one sack, and two forced fumbles over 31 career CFL games.

Cassar made two defensive tackles, 14 special teams tackles, one forced fumble, and three fumble recoveries over 18 games as a member of the Argonauts this past season.
The 27-year-old was a second-round pick in the 2020 CFL Draft out of Carleton University and has since made 15 defensive tackles, 42 special teams tackles, three fumble recoveries, and one forced fumble over 38 career CFL games.
Toronto will open their 2024 regular season on Sunday, June 9 when the host the B.C. Lions at BMO Field.
