Laval product, Super Bowl champion Anthony Auclair retires from professional football

Canadian tight end Antony Auclair has announced his retirement from professional football.

The six-foot-six, 256-pound native of Notre-Dame-des-Pins, Que. joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in 2017 and spent four seasons with the team, helping them win Super Bowl LV. He dressed for 40 games with the Bucs with 20 starts and made 10 receptions for 84 yards.

Auclair signed with the Houston Texans ahead of the 2021 season and played 16 games with the club, making 13 starts and catching five passes for 47 yards and one touchdown. He was released by the team at the conclusion of training camp the following year.

The 30-year-old joined the practice roster with the Tennessee Titans partway through the 2022 season but was waived after a three-week stint with the club.

According to Spotrac, Auclair earned a total of $5.9 million USD during his six-year NFL career.

Auclair was a standout at Laval Université at the U Sports level prior to turning pro. His younger brother, Adam Auclair, plays linebacker for the Ottawa Redblacks.
