The B.C. Lions have signed Canadian receiver Jevon Cottoy to a three-year contract extension that will keep him with the club through 2026.
The 27-year-old had a career year for the Lions in 2023, hauling in 57 receptions for 807 yards and four touchdowns. Cottoy also contributed six catches for 63 yards and a touchdown in a Western Semi-Final win over Calgary but was held off the stat sheet in the Western Final.
The six-foot-five, 230-pound target originally signed with the Lions as a territorial exemption ahead of the 2019 season. He has since appeared in 66 games, catching 184 passes for 2,263 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Born in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Cottoy grew up in Calgary and began his career with the CJFL’s Calgary Colts before moving to the Langley Rams. He was a BCFC all-star in 2018 after recording 39 receptions for 657 yards and eight touchdowns over eight games. He then added 25 catches for 645 yards and eight touchdowns through four playoff games while leading the Rams to a Canadian Bowl appearance against the Saskatoon Hilltops.
The Lions will open their season on Sunday, June 9 when they visit the Toronto Argonauts.
