The Ottawa Redblacks have signed six American players, including receivers Floyd Allen, Jayshon Jackson, Lonnie Moore, and Kris Thornton and defensive backs David Haney and Jaylon McClain-Sapp.

Allen made three starts for the Calgary Stampeders in 2023, recording four catches for 44 yards and one touchdown. He finished the season on the team’s practice roster, immediately making him a free agent after the club lost the West Semi-Final to the B.C. Lions. He finished his collegiate career at Ole Miss before a stint with the Houston Texans.

Jackson made 142 catches over 1,652 yards and eight touchdowns over two collegiate seasons at Ball State. The five-foot-ten 182-pound target spent the first three years of his NCAA eligibility at the University of Cincinnati where he made 67 grabs for 786 yards and three touchdowns.

Moore signed with the Toronto Argonauts this past season but didn’t dress for any regular season games. The five-foot-ten, 175-pounder recorded 213 receptions for 2,736 yards and 19 touchdowns, 23 carries for 285 yards and three touchdowns, 79 kickoffs returns for 1,839 yards and two touchdowns over 48 career games at Monmouth University.

Thornton caught 168 passes for 2,540 yards and 23 touchdowns over 33 collegiate games at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va. The five-foot-eight, 180-pound speedster was invited to rookie minicamp with the Cleveland Browns after going unselected in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Haney most recently played in the Indoor Football League as a member of the Iowa Barnstormers and San Diego Strike Force. The 28-year-old made 35 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 14 pass knockdowns, two interceptions, and one fumble recovery with the Strike Force this past season.

McClain-Sapp played 27 games at Marshall University from 2016 to 2020 where he made 67 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 16 pass knockdowns, and two interceptions. The native of Jacksonville, Fla. has since been a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh Maulers of the USFL, and B.C. Lions.
