The Ottawa Redblacks have re-signed Canadian defensive lineman Nigel Romick for the 2024 season, keeping one of the team’s original players in the fold.
The 32-year-old native of Thunder Bay, Ont. dressed for 16 games in 2023, posting two defensive tackles and eight special teams tackles.
“I’ve been very fortunate to play my entire career here in Ottawa and now it’s even more special playing in front of my wife and two kids,” Romick said in a team statement. “I can’t wait to get back to business and help bring this organization and RNation another Grey Cup. I couldn’t see myself in any other colours!”
Originally selected in the third round of the 2014 CFL Draft out of Saint Mary’s University, Romick has spent all nine seasons of his CFL career in the nation’s capital. Through 100 career games with Ottawa, he has recorded 16 defensive tackles, a sack, and 109 special teams tackles.
The Redblacks will begin their 2024 season when they host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Thursday, June 13 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
