The Calgary Stampeders have renegotiated the contract of star receiver Reggie Begelton, adding an additional year to his existing deal to keep him with the team through 2025.

The 30-year-old pass catcher was a CFL all-star in 2023 and the Stampeders’ top offensive weapon, recording 86 receptions for 1,119 yards and five touchdowns in 15 games. All of those numbers were good enough to be tops on the team, while he finished second in the CFL in catches and sixth in receiving yards.

In addition to his on-field exploits, Begelton was the winner of the Stamps’ Herm Harrison Memorial Award for outstanding community service in 2023.

The native of Beaumont, Tex., first arrived in Calgary in 2017 and has spent parts of six seasons with the organization, interrupted only by a stint with the Green Bay Packers from 2020 until 2021. Begelton has played 68 career regular-season CFL games and amassed 329 catches for 4,445 yards and 24 touchdowns, twice earning all-star recognition.

The Stampeders will open their 2024 season on Friday, June 7 when they host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
