The Chicago Bears hosted a pair of CFL players on Thursday, as per Aaron Wilson. The players were Ottawa Redblacks strongside linebacker Douglas Coleman III and Hamilton Tiger-Cats receiver and return specialist Tyreik McAllister.
The second-year man from Texas Tech played in 17 games for Ottawa in 2023, amassing 60 defensive tackles, four sacks, three interceptions and two touchdowns. The six-foot-one, 200-pound linebacker played in five games with the team in 2022, putting up 18 tackles and one sack.
McAllister was a versatile weapon for the Ticats during his first CFL season in 2023, leading the league in kickoff return average and all-purpose yards. The former University of Charleston running back recorded 13 carries for 52 yards, 27 receptions for 364 yards and two touchdowns, 41 kickoff returns for an average of 25.3 yards, 56 punt returns for an average of 10.8 yards, and seven missed field goal returns for 408 yards and one touchdown. He has since worked out for the Las Vegas Raiders, Arizona Cardinals and New England Patriots.
The Bears have a record of 7-9 and will wrap up their season on January 7 against the Green Bay Packers.
